My Judo History

I have been active in the sport of judo for 28 years. I have been a judo black belt for 20 years. I competed in over 20 tournaments, provincial qualifiers and Masters level tournaments. I have competed in the Canadian Masters in 2004, 2005, and 2008. I competed in the World Masters in 2005 and the Hatashta International in 2006, 2007 and 2008. I believe that through tournament judo, not only can you can push your limits and achieve personal goals, you make yourself into something more than you are.

Refereeing

I am provincial A certified. I have refereed in over 30 separate tournaments in Toronto, Brampton, Kingston, Guelph, Sudbury, Timmins, Barrie, and Huntsville. Refereeing can be very stressful and exhausting but it is very rewarding. The important thing to remember is to make sure that the competitors are safe, and all your decisions are correct and fair. If you are a good referee, the competitor will remember their opponent and their throws but not remember who the referee was. Let the competitors compete!

Coaching

I am NCCP Level 2 certified. I have taken my Level 3 theory and technical courses as well. I firmly believe in the NCCP certification process and actively push my high ranking students to get their NCCP certification.
